Fast and Furious 6

Wow this film is epic. The sixth film in the fast and furious builds on the success of Fast Five with the whole main cast returning. The film focuses on the chase and capture of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) an ex SAS soldier now destroying and stealing from military convoys. Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) enlists Toretto and his crew to help him take Shaw down in exchange for full pardons for all of his crew. The resulting team-up is an explosion of Muscles and fast cars.

This film is one of the most anticipated of 2013. I can guarantee that this film will not disappoint in any sense of the word. If you love the series you will see it anyway just out of loyalty but if you haven’t seen the previous films (what is wrong with you) then you’ll probably want to watch Fast Five before this as it leads into Fast and Furious 6.

After watching the film I was totally surprised and a little bit tearful as one of the main crew, Hans love interest Gisele dies whilst saving Han. This film is filled with action and all of the characters perform to their best. I wouldn’t say this film is the best in the series so far but I think that it’s on a par with Fast Five.

I found the fact that Letty having amnesia was quite a poor and clichéd way of bring her back into the series. The fact that she survives an explosion putting her in hospital where Shaw picks her up wasn’t great and I think the writers could have done a better job with that. However I do like the way they brought a distinct European feel to the film, its similar to the way they gave Fast Five a Brazilian feel. I did like the cameo from Rita Ora as the race starter, but the race scene between Letty and Dom which was brilliantly shot with expert driving from all steals the film.

The after credits scene with Ian Shaw (Jason Statham) presumably Owens brother, explains a lot to do with the death of Han in Tokyo Drift the third film and also tells a lot of what the plot for the seventh film will be like. They are filming currently with a look to a release of 11th July 2014, I for one cannot wait.

I believe that the way they brought Letty back was the most simple way to bring her back without making someone within the ‘family’ a bad guy. I also think that they tied in how Shaw just happened to be there very well with the revelation that Shaw had been working with Vaga during the events of the 4th film. I love this movie and the franchise as a whole. Something that sets it apart from other action movies is the underlying theme of family, you truly care about each of the crew because they are like family by now. I hated that Han’s love interest had to die, but I saw that coming because I knew that they had to break him to send him to Tokyo. It was predictable but I still about cried when she died saving Han.
