Lamborghini have confirmed what engine they will slot into their new SUV when it launches in 2018. Unlike its super car and hyper car brothers the Urus will feature a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8. Lamborghini bosses stated that the decision was made thanks to the superior torque figures from the new engine, which they said was important due to the Urus’ off road capability.
The Urus, which has been at the design stage for many years now, is looking to take on the likes of the BMW X6 M and other super SUVs like the Range Rover Sport. Bosses also stated that they expected the price tag to be upwards of £200,000.
Whilst Lamborghini has made adventures into the SUV realm before with the LM002 it never really caught on due to its massive fuel consumption and terrible handling. I thought it was good that Lamborghini steered clear of the SUVs and I was disappointed when I first heard about the Urus, Lamborghinis are special as they are and don’t need to be in every single section of the market, next we’ll hear about the long rumoured Lamborghini 4 door saloon, which is bad news for everybody involved. Its happening all over the place not just Lamborghini though with Bentley and Rolls Royce both bringing out 4×4’s and even Aston Martin. Please stop!
